Science and art inspire each other to create new forms of expression. Here, at Science (in)Verse, we bring an unusual outcome of this encounter: science-inspired poetry. If you are feeling poetic, we welcome contributions!

Synapse
A place where this connects to that,
a momentary correspondence,
an instance of connection – zap!
One cell transmits an electric fact
to another for respondence.
A place where this connects to that.
One cell sends chemical claps
neurotransmitters in abundance
An instance of connection – zap!
Another sends a signal back,
often a redundance
A place where that connects to this.
An orchestra of synapse
composed of membrane instruments
Instances of connection – zap, zap, zap!
Sparking life into our mental maps
providing us with sentiments.
A place where this connects to that,
an instance of connection – zap!
